Good observation & reporting.

It is helpful for us.

Don't you think your main problem is the laptop you have. Win 7 64 rocks.

@RAVI
thanks for appreciation.

@sammypug
yes I already said my laptop lacks native drivers :)

@Moab
isso é verdade o Windows XP é bom para o Acer 4710, eu sugiro comprar laptop novo para o Windows 7.

the thing with win 7 x64 is it sux real bad without the drivers.... i have a similar story of owning a win7 x64 manually installed on an acer. Without the drivers, it refuses to function the damn AERO! it doesn't recognize the existence of my friggin graphic card. it gives me 1.0 rating for system graphics in Performance indexing tools in the games explorer, while the same config had a rating of 4.8 or sumthing on a win vista x32... but it shudnt be a problem once all the drivers are properly installed... So its basically the drivers that are the most imp for any transition to x64..... if u have them, x64 is the way forward given that the otherwise softwares in x64 category are booming exponentially

@Bha1 thats true .. native drivers is all we need :) for making 64 bit transition a success !

I have same model.. But when I install Win 7 32 bit OS, my LAN card doesn't get recognize and hence I cant access Internet.
Any solution ??

@Pawnstar I know 5 friends of mine who are using the same laptop as of mine. Its my office laptop actually. We never faced LAN card issue.

Did you tried running upgrade advisor ? It tells about hardware issues

Hi! I've got the same laptop, just changed to win7 32 bits... but it doesn't recognize the mic or the web cam...
what can I do?

Abhinav Gupta said...

@Anjela
Solution is to try getting vista 32 bit drivers for your cam/mic. I didn't faced this problem, as I used skype a lot for video calls on Win7.

Check this post it explains how to get the drivers

If you are in real hurry, directly jump to this page
http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/download.htm
Its acer driver/tools download page, you can select your model here and get the drivers for cam and audio.
